FIRST LOVE...Saturday

9/5/15

"Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear:
forget your people and your father's house.
 The king is enthralled by your beauty;
honor him, for he is your lord."
Psalm 45:10,11

     Most young women dream of the day they will find the man of their dreams and become his bride.  Most young men dream of that day also -- when they will find the right woman to share their life with.

     A bride leaves her parents and her life behind to make a new life with her husband.

Sometimes this involves a move far away from family and friends.  The couple commits everything to each other -- their hopes, desires, the present and the future.

     This is what the Lord expects of each Christian who is His follower.  Many references in the Bible refer to Jesus as the bridegroom and the church as his bride.  He wants us to love Him as we would our husband, he wants to be our first and only love.  He wants us to care about what He thinks, to follow where he leads, to take joy in His presence, to spend our time with Him, and to put our hopes only in Him for our future.

Have you ever thought about this?  Do you love Jesus?  He expects our devotion even beyond what we would faithfully give our spouse.  He wants to be our first love.

  1. It is important to hold on to the fact that Jesus is OUR FIRST LOVE.
